What's a good courier service to collect my alloy wheels?
I need some alloy wheels bringing from Somerset to Derbyshire. Can anyone suggest a courier service?
Couriers do a "personal" point to point service carrying your goods only and work to pick up at an appointed time and take the goods directly to the delivery point - if there are any delays at either end, perhaps due to people not being there, then there are extra charges for waiting time.
A Courier is like a taxi but for goods rather than people. If you want that aervice it can cost as much as £1.20 per mile but for what you want to move £0.70 would be more typical.
The other way would be to use a parcel carrier like DHL, Citylink, and many others that you can find in the phone book. This will cost less but has its downsides in that you cannot normally specify a time, the goods are thrown together with lots of others, you have o package the goods very carefully to allow for the aforementioned fact. Some parcel carriers advertise a same day service - they just sub this out to couriers.
