Why do car salesmen want to stop dealing with you when you tell them you are a cash buyer?
I had one that basically turned his head and started walking away when I asked for a cash price.
He just wrote the middle sticker price on a piece of paper.
I already know that that is the asking price.
How do I get the bottom price without having to research this car to death and print out offers of comparable cards spending an entire week doing this?
It's not an expensive car.
Maybe a honda fit or ford fiesta.
What am I doing wrong?
I pay cash for my cars (new ones too without a trade in) and never had a salesman walk away. Maybe by the way you look or act tells them you don't really have the money or really going to buy (I'm not saying you don't have the money). If a salesman did this to me I'd go and buy a car elsewhere, them drive it in with the papers saying it was paid for and make sure he saw it. I'd also have a talk with his boss.
