What does everyone think on Ford not selling there new 65 mpg Ford's 2009 Fiesta ECOnetic here in the US?
I think it is a pure profit move on their part. The new crop of diesel engines are WAY cleaner than in years past. They are very impressive. The problem is, in America, when we hear diesel, we think big, nasty smoke chugging engine. They don't think they could sell it here. It bothers me because by not making the effort, they perpetuate the misguided common view of diesels. They could not possibly say that with an aggressive ad campaign that they could not sell these things here. Especially in this current economy. If I was given the choice of a Gasoline Civic that does 45mpg, and this car, that 65 mpg would win me over immediately, diesel or not. But that just my opinion.
