HOW DO YOU INSTALL A 2006 VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY?
we have the replacement part just need to know how to install it ourselves. Its for the Passanger side. Cant find any online instructions does anyone know how to do it???????
Had the other side replaced under warrenty but know the warrenty is up and this one needs replaced figures right
Depends if you have the old style or the new style headlights. There was a split in 05-06.
If you see a black plastic tab (inside the engine bay on the side of the headlight housing), then you press the small square inward towards the headlight housing. While you press that inward pull up on the tab. It slides around and slightly pushes the headlight assembly out. You need to pull the headlight out while moving the tab around the ring.
Reverse order to install
If you dont have a tab.
there is a small silver hex tab that you need to turn with a socket and ratchet. Its a 5mm. Turn to the left and the headlight will pop out an inch or so. now there is a silver tab at the back of the headlight assembly and towards the bottom right corner. You need to press that tab towards the ground while pulling the light out of the housing.
Install is reverse. NOTE... this style is a pain to reinstall correctly. It sometimes doesnt fit back in fully and the light will not come on. Try turning the lights on and push hard inward on the headlight... does it come on? you will need to remove the headlight again and adjust the bucket it slides into. If you dont feel comfortable doing this, take it to the dealer.
Im a dealer tech and advise you to save the trouble and just take to the dealer.
