Learn How to Repair a New Beetle Headlight Like A Pro
The New Beetle has been in the roads of Brandon for more than a decade. By now, the headlights of units purchased five or six years ago (or even more) are in the brink of burn out.
Unlike older Volkswagen repair, New Beetle headlights do not require special auto repair tools. Replacing a burn out Beetle headlights is certainly made easy over older and more vintage versions of Volkswagens. But still, you may want to have some things handy by your side. These include adhesive remover, paper towels, car wax, and soft cloth. If you do not have any of these things, you can easily purchase them from any local auto repair shop in Brandon.
Here are New Beetle headlight repair tips that will make you feel like an auto repair pro.
1. High beam and low beam bulbs are both H1 bulbs. You can find this information in your car manual so do not heed any advice from auto parts sales personnel that tells you otherwise. Buy a 55 watt bulb for your low beam, and 60 watt one for high beam.
2. To get the headlight out, open your car's hood. Find the small headlight assembly knob positioned between the first two fender mounting bolts. Push this lever slightly then pull it all the way up. Push the headlight with one hand and catch it with your other free hand on the front. Place the headlight on a pillow or something soft so you don't scratch the lens.
3. The next step involves bulb replacement. NEVER TOUCH THE BULB'S GLASS PART WITH YOUR BARE HANDS. Take off the black plastic cover at the back of the headlight's housing. Undo the metal spring that holds the headlight bulbs in place. Remove the burned out bulb with the new one you have purchased from an auto repair shop in Brandon. Afterwards, put the metal spring back on and secure them once again.
4, After replacing your New Beetle headlight bulb, clean the area before replacing the headlight. Put adhesive remover on the paper towels and remove any adhesive leaks. Put a little wax around the fender area to finish things out nicely and make your headlights look sparkly again.
5. To see if everything worked out fine, test your headlights. This procedure is simple enough to not affect the aim of your headlights.
If after this simple procedure your headlight bulbs still won't work, it is inevitable that you go to an auto repair shop. The wiring of your New Beetle should be checked and diagnosed for major problems. There are a lot of auto repair shops in Brandon but is much recommended if you go to one that specializes in Volkswagen repair.
